When I saw what Carrie Bradshaw was wearing upon landing in Abu Dhabi in SATC 2, I knew I had to make my version of that Halston dress by hook and by God's grace.
And true enough, I decided to make it one afternoon. I was already regretting packing only a pair of slacks to a convention then I learned there was also going to be a party. So I went to the mall, grabbed my go-to fabric - poly stretch in the most flattering color, eye-balled the pattern I wanted and, by God's grace, cut it and sewed 1 side. I decided not to hem since the material doesn't fray. I know I could've used more fabric but I had to make a tube dress out of the remaining fabric so I wouldn't be naked inside. I inserted a garter to the top of the tube dress to hold it in place. And this is the fruit of that impulse decision.

I wore the dress again to a friend's beach wedding but I lost the tube dress I made so I just used another purple tube dress i already have to wear inside. The picture above is from that wedding. But after many pictures of me wearing that dress on facebook, I decided to retire the dress and make a flowy tank from it.
